The kindergarten follows the work and holiday schedule laid down for Helsinki city schools.
All children must be 3 years old when they start at the kindergarten. The kindergarten reserves the right to refuse admittance if necessary. A small registration fee is payable, together with the first month’s fee, when your child’s application has been accepted and you are offered a place at the kindergarten. ENROLLMENT CAN ONLY BE CONFIRMED WHEN THIS FEE HAS BEEN PAID. This total amount is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. There is a small discount for siblings.
The monthly fee is due regardless of the number of days in a month, absenteeism due to illness or additional vacations, inclement weather or school or statutory holidays. Payments are due on the 4th day of each month. If your child has an illness that lasts longer than a month, the fee for that month may be refunded on production of an appropriate doctor’s certificate.
If for some reason it becomes necessary to withdraw your child from the school, a minimum notice of ONE CALENDAR MONTH is required or you must pay one month’s fee in lieu of notice.
We recommend that at least one family member joins the Helsinki Finnish- American Society. This enables you to have a say in how the kindergarten is managed. Membership forms can be picked up from the kindergarten when your child starts school.
The teachers have full educational responsibility and the schools educational policies are designed according to their educational principals. The kindergarten runs under the supervision of a parent’s committee, which also arranges activities throughout the school year. All parents are welcome to participate. Financial and administrative responsibility is held by the Finnish-American Society.
